In the Beckett's play, Monsieur Albert and his friend, symbols of French Society, have been chased from Reality by Godot, who is a
personification of Money, during the first part of the 19th Century. All that is left of them is Vladimir and Estragon,
incarnations of Poetry and Philosophy, the cultural part of man in Society. They live by the Tree, away from everyday
life, withdrawn into the Imaginary. But now, Money is becoming the only aim in Society. So Godot, who rules Reality,
will overcome the Imaginary. Then, there will be no room left for Art and Poetry. Vladimir and Estragon will vanish
into Nothingness.
